Nikki(n) the TV superstar & the Cold Ash Ball

I signed off the blog yesterday, saying that Nikki had been interviewed for TV regarding the ‘talent find’ for rowing that she participated in yesterday. Well the interview was run on a local TV news program last night – there she was, my daughter on TV. Which was great, with the minor exception that they put up her name as Nikkin !

Tricia and I travelled down to a place called Cold Ash (near Newbury) last night to go to a ball with some friends. Great fun, and good company. I have to say that I was struggling somewhat though, after a late Friday night, and an early Saturday morning, I was somewhat lacklustre. Must be my age .

Here we all are.

Finally got to bed about 2:30 am this morning. Sunday morning, Tricia and I travelled across to my old hometown of Bracknell, where we went and had lunch with friends of ours – Deb and Carlos (who had also been to the ball). I met Deb thirty years ago this September, so we went and celebrated 30 years of friendship over lunch. We went to an old drinking haunt called the Horse and Groom. It no longer has the same atmosphere that it once had, but we enjoyed the trip down memory lane nonetheless.

The Frank Sinatra album is good ‘easy listening’, and was the first 12″ album that became the ‘LP’ that people of my generation knew and loved.
