Walkies….

Yesterday, Tricia and Robbie were scheduled to walk the next part of the Ridgeway. They were walking 20+ miles from near Princes Risborough to Wallingford. Nikki decided to join them, so drove back from uni on Friday evening and was up early on Saturday morning. Now the previous week, a friend of ours, Pat, had joined Trish and Robbie for the walk. This meant I dropped them off, and Pat’s husband went out later and picked them up. Unfortunately Pat wasn’t doing the walk this week. So, Tricia asked me to follow them to Princes Risborough, where they would leave her car, and then take them over to Wallingford to drop them off. No problem I said, but (BUT) I had an appointment for a haircut at 11am…

To cut a long story short, we were later leaving than expected due to lots of prevarication over hats, gloves, etc etc. Then it took a bit longer to find the exact drop off point on the Ridgeway. I ended up being too late for my haircut. I was seething…put myself out for everybody else, and missed the only thing I had fixed to do. Fortrunately, I managed to get a later appointment and took Ellie swimming. Having got my haircut later in the day, by the time the weary (knackered), blistered and aching walkers returned I had calmed down.

Some photo’s the walkers took on the day….

Too old to be playing in puddles surely…. ?

The wearly walkers at the end of the day’s walking.

In the evening Tricia and I were at some friends for dinner. A very pleasant evening, and I thought Tricia did well to stay awake considering the walking and the fresh air she had during the day.

I got out for some exercise myself this morning, and did about 20 miles on the bike. Very pleasant, and I arrived back just in time, as we had a downpour. Nikki went athletics training, and says she had a good shot putt session, but couldn’t do much sprinting because her ‘glutes’ were sore after the walking. A sedate Sunday afternoon after lunch was spent watching the Man Utd v Arsenal game, whilst trying not to fall asleep.

A busy week ahead… I am in a workshop tomorrow from 8am to 7pm, and then I am on a company induction course for the rest of the week.

  1. Well reading your latest grumpy old man entry reminds me of the conversation over dinner last night! It started with Simon saying that he and his close friend Annalise are getting jip at college as people don’t believe they are just good friends… Sounds familiar so I said just think if I’d married Uncle Paul I would be married to an even grumpier old man! (Carlos was being irritated about something or other!)The boys decided (they read your blog!) that Carlos is in fact an amatuer in the grumpiest stakes and then preceeded to decide you could be the next Sir Alan Sugar! They decided that a new TV prog was in order with you chairing the hunt for the grumpiest person. Matt then did a fairly good imitation of you ‘firing’ someone for not taking their daughters boyfriend to task for wanting to go out with his daughter… Simon meanwhile was adding commentry… It was very funny and if the Tv show takes off I’m going to sell my story ‘I knew him when…’ to the News of the World! Oh I’m sure the hair looks gorgeous!

  3. Ahem you are NEVER too old to play in puddles.  Try it, it might make you less grumpy if the above is to be believed although I’m sure it can’t be.  Not my cousin surely!
