Sniff….sneeze

Well the hayfever season finally caught up with me on Sunday. About 15 years ago I would start sneezing and wanting to scratch my eyes out at the begining of May, so I shouldn’t complain at the first week in June. On Sunday we had ‘Nimbledon’, which was a group of freinds in the village getting together for a little tennis tournament. It was mixed doubles, and partners were drawn out of a hat. I was knocked out in the first round, Nikki in the second, and Tricia made the semi finals. Great fun, lots of laughing at our combined incompetence, and a scorching day. We had a bbq at the end, and I ended up doing a lot of the cooking. When I got home I smelt of smoke, and looked considerably redder than at the start of the day, and my eyes were very red as well from the hayfever and the smoke from the bbq.

On Monday Tricia went to Queens to watch the Men’s tennis in the pre Wimbledon tournament, the Artois Championships. She had a great time with her friends. I had the day off work, some time off in lieu for a weekend I worked. About noon I decided to go out on the bike. I had done 20+ miles with the bloke next door on Saturday, and was keen to continue with the exercise. Of course in hindsight I chose the wrong time of day, and was absolutely boiling when I got home two hours later. Lots of cold drinks and a cold shower seemed to help. But the hayfever flared up again so I camped in the house for the rest of the day.

Good news on my Dad, he is improving. I saw him on Friday and he looked a lot better. He was at the doctors today and got some reasonable news from his test results, so fingers crossed he will continue to improve.

Robbie has two exams left, the challenge seems to be getting him to keep going. The finishing post is in sight, and I sense he wants to relax now. He has physics tomorrow, and stats next week.

Tricia has been working hard in the garden the last few weeks. Some photo’s…including the cats.

  1. Sympathies over the hayfever.  I’ve only had to take an antihistimine once so far this year so I’m starting to get cautiously optimistic.
Very glad to hear the good news about your dad.
