My little girl was 9 today. Growing up fast… half way to 18, as somebody pointed out to me today. We have been at our friends, Deb and Carlos, for the last few days. We went across to Market Harborough on Saturday lunchtime. Ellie had her birthday money, and she and Tricia and Deb went off shopping for the afternoon. Ellie had a great time, buying all sorts – but, to be fair mainly practical things. A new raincoat with matching wellies, scarf, hat, gloves, High School musical outfit… and so on. Carlos, Robbie and me met up with them mid afternoon, for a cream tea. It was also a chance to catch up with Deb’s Mum, Yvonne. Deb has been a friend since we were both 16, and her Mum used to put up with not only me, but many others diving round her house for coffee – Deb’s house was very close to the school. So, it was nice to see Yvonne as well.
Late afternoon, Carlos and I went and played tennis. Nothing much has changed since we last played, he beat me easily, but it was good exercise, and I enjoyed the simplicity of hitting the balls. I did thrash him on the wii though, which helped!
Deb put on a birthday breakfast for Ellie this morning, including a ‘High School Musical’ cake. Needless to say Ellie has enjoyed her birthday weekend. It was a nice weekend all round, good company as always, and good food and drink!
Back home this afternoon, and I have spent the early evening doing some packing. We go off on hols on Wednesday evening.
