It is a quiet Sunday evening. Quite contrary to the morning. Tricia had a catering job for a family in the village, so we were both up at 7:30, Nikki and Rob shortly after, and all hands to the pump getting the food prepared. I left them to it for a while and went up to church. All was done and delivered at 12, kitchen clean and tidy by 12:45, and we all climbed in to the car, and went across to see Deb and Carlos, Matt and Simon. Wendy and Rob and Wendy’s dad were there also, and we sat and enjoyed a lovely lunch served up by Deb and Carlos. The afternoon flew by. It was great to catch up and enjoy the company of friends…
Yesterday I achieved the most important objective of the weekend, I got my hair cut ! Then I took Ellie swimming. She perfected her diving, and after some messing about, we did some work trying to improve her front crawl, and made some progress. In the evening it was next door for a ‘curry evening’ with Alan and Rachel, and Pete and Sara. Next curry evening will now be after the school holidays in September.
During the week, we all went to Waddesdon school for end of year prize giving. Robbie had been awarded the art trophy for his work in art this last year. The trophy was donated to the school a number of years back (1987) by the mother of a girl who had been killed in a car accident when in the sixth form. The mother was there to present the trophy, and Rob took some time to talk to her afterwards. It was a nice note for Rob to finish on, he is a ‘quiet sort’ who lets his work speak for itself, and it is nice to see him get some recognition for all his hard work.
Rob has been busy decluttering his room, as part of looking ahead to moving out to uni in September… his room is rather minimalist at the moment. Nikki has booked herself a week in Corfu, she is off with her friend Jade, they are are going out in a few weeks. Ellie has been busy with end of term activities. She has been in two plays, one of which, a version of Cinderella, she had a minor role in…. until the girl playing Cinders went sick, so with a days notice she stood into the role of Cinders, and did it very well, and without script…. she explained to me that they had rehearsed so often she pretty much knew everybody’s lines…![]()
Well, another week beckons. Ellie finishes for the summer during the week… Me, I have just been given a heap of work, so a busy week ahead.
