Apologies for missing a few weeks. First thing to say – Happy Birthday to the Robster, who has now clocked up 20 years. May 5th 2012 was different from May 5th 1992 by about 12 degrees celsius. I can’t remember such a cold day for Robbies birthday. Being 20 means he is no longer a teenager, which means I am no longer a parent of a teenager…. until October when Ellie reaches 13. Not that there is any respite, she seems to be practising to be a teenager already !
So Robbie came back for his birthday weekend, his mate Jordan came back as well. Nikki picked them up on the Friday. On the Saturday evening we all had steak and chips before going bowling.
We had three games of bowling… just to show that age doesn’t really count, I won two of them
. Nikki took Robbie and Jordan back to Northampton on the Sunday evening. Rob has pretty much finished his second year now, and will most likely be home for the summer next weekend.
We had a quiet Bank Holiday, well quiet until West Ham played Cardiff in the 2nd leg of the play off semi, when I became a little agitated, but it was all ok as we ran out 3-0 winners, and 5-0 on aggregate. Fingers crossed for the play off final on the 19th.
Ellie has had a big change in her bedroom…. new bed, new wardrobe, new chest of drawers. She has been in what was Robs old bunk bed since she moved into the room. But she didn’t really like the bunk bed, so she is pleased with her new bedroom furniture… and sleeping well. Nikki put all the furniture together… nice for Ellie to have a big sister who would do such things!
Of course I don’t suppose the room will stay that tidy
Nikki had a good day yesterday, she went off with her friend Craig to Leicester to see the semi final of the Aviva Premiership… fortunately Leicester won, and Nikki got to meet some of the players afterwards, so she was in a good mood.
Tricia has been full of cold this week, but fortunately was better in time for a ‘Guiding Hike’ yesterday, when they had to do 12 miles – Tricia did this with two ladies who help her at Brownies.
I took advantage of the fact it wasn’t pouring with rain to give the back lawn a much needed cut. Tricia did some other tidying up wok today and the garden is starting to look good… it does lift the spirits to look out of the window and see the garden looking good.
It seems we have a new Mystic Wizards project … we are going to make a ‘mockumentary’ about a reunion of the Mystic Wizards after 30 years…’mock’ in the sense that it will be a send up. With the ease with which we can all record video these days we all have to record our own pieces which will then be collated into one. So I kicked off my part today with a trip to the spiritual Wizard home of Charlbury…. Ellie came with me. I tried to explain about the Mystic Wizards to her, and she likes the fact that it is ‘off the wall’ so to speak, but somewhat bemused by the whole thing. Anyhow…the mystic dustbin (once used for transporting clothes to Charlbury on the train) came out for the trip. In some respects little has changed in Charlbury… but the big change is that the White Hart is no longer a pub… it is now somebodies house.
Well its off to bed for me… long week at work looming ahead.
