Plague, pestilence, sprains and bubbles…

Plague and pestilence… poor Tricia has not been very well this week. A cough and cold, feeling very poorly, she spent Thursday in bed, and is only starting to feel more herself today. She got out into the garden this morning. I cut the grass, and Tricia did the edges, and moved a couple of plants, and prettied the garden up. Poor Ellie, seemed to get the same cold. Nikki took her to the doctors (Tricia wasn’t well enough to go out herself), and she came back with antibiotics for a chest infection. She was off school Tue, Wed and Thursday. Robbie, who wasn’t well over the Easter period, and who has now finished his second year at uni, declined the opportunity of coming home last week ‘until everyone is better’…. wanting to avoid catching it himself. Nikki will be bringing him home tomorrow.

Tricia had been due to compete yesterday, but had to drop out because she was unwell. Nikki however did compete, doing shot, discus, 4×100 and 4×400 relays. She was very pleased with her discus, a pb, and that is without doing the full rotation.

Bubbles… yesterday, my team, West Ham, were in the play off final. I hadn’t been able to get a ticket to go, so sat and watched the game with my mate in the village Peter, who is also a West Ham fan. Flag was up, West Ham shirts were worn. We didn’t play very well, but we won, so that was enough… back to the Premier League next season. Here are a couple of pictures… my West Ham flag flying proudly, Ellie in a West Ham shirt and a flag (when West Ham scored their goals she run down the street waving the flag), and Nikki who found amongst all my West Ham paraphernalia her kit from she was probably about 9… and managed to get into it!

Sprains… when the final whistle went and West Ham had won, Ellie ran down the street and by the village hall waving her West Ham flag. She saw her mate Flora and arranged to meet her. So when she got home, she ran upstairs to get changed… ran down stairs and at the bottom slipped and turned her ankle. We sat down, and took her trainer off, and a big lump appeared in next to no time. Nikki performed an examination, said she didn’t think there was a break, and it was a sprain but wanted to get it checked out, so piled her into the car and took her to A&E. A few hours later and after x ray it was confirmed that it was just a sprain.

However, she was due to be in a dance competition today…. so that didn’t happen, and she won’t be able to dance for a little while.

Tricia and I went to watch South Pacific last night at Aylesbury theatre. The theatre is a new one, and very nice and comfortable. The performance was excellent, and Tricia tried to time her coughing to coincide with clapping This meant however that I missed the champions league final with Chelsea… so, having managed to get home without hearing the final score, I sat and watched the game then… and it went to extra time and penalties. It was after 1:30 am when I got to bad.

So, a little jaded with the start of the day. But I did get up and go to church. The talk, or sermon if you like, was about worship, and the vicar was generally talking about why people come to church… I was hoping he would ask me why I came to church… I would have said, ‘to get an hours peace and quiet from Trcia’s coughing’ Of course, Jim the vicar knows better than to ask me questions!

I cut the grass when back from church, then cooked the roast whilst Tricia pottered around. This afternoon we both just sat in the armchair and watched a film… Nikki has gone across to Northampton and will be spending the night at Robbies, before bringing him back tomorrow.

I am looking forward to a nights sleep when I don’t get woken up by Tricia’s coughing
