Tough week for Tricia

On New Years Eve Tricia awoke with a tooth ache. So a trip to the dentist was organised. Tricia didn’t see our usual dentist as he was unavailable. But the dentist took a look, said that the tooth would need a crown, and he thought there may be an infection. So he gave Tricia some antibiotics and an appointment was made with the usual dentist. Well it seems the antibiotics didn’t suit Tricia very well. A metallic taste in the mouth, feeling achey as if she had a cold, and then earlier in the week up most of the night unwell. So she stopped taking them. Back at the dentist, the usual dentist said there wasn’t an infection, and that the ‘ache’ from the tooth was the nerves. So she needn’t have had antibiotics. Grrrr. Two hours in the dentist chair having root canal fillings, and the tooth ache has now gone. So has a considerable sum of money from the wallet. Fortunately we are in a dental insuarance plan so I can get some of the money back.

To add to an expensive week, we had to have two new tyres on Tricia’s car. Still, it was a job done, and there is a certain peace of mind knowing her tyres are in good condition at this time of year. Rob has been a bit poorly this week, with a sore throat / virus. He is only feeling brighter today. Ellie has been away over the weekend (nice and quiet in the house 🙂 ), she has been down in the New Forest on a Guiding weekend with a load of other Guides doing a ‘Baden-Powell’ challenge. Tricia took her down there Friday evening, and had a very long trip on the way down, with traffic, road closures, flooding etc… then she had to come back.

Yesterday she dropped some bird seed in the kitchen, was removing the holly from what was our advent wreath, and dropped that on the kitchen floor, and the, being distracted forgot some chutney she was doing which boiled over. Really not her week. On the positive side she has done the mincemeat for next Christmas. That is all jarred up and will sit boxed up for the next year, along with the Christmas chutney she has made.

When the kitchen had been tidied up from all the things Tricia was dropping we went for a walk. The sun was shining, and as that hadn’t been happening a lot recently we wanted to take advantage. It was a little ‘soft’ underfoot but we enjoyed the fresh air. I have been doing some painting this weekend. I have done the ceiling in the porch, and part of the bathroom. Not major projects, just keeping the place fresh.

Nikki has been competing in Igls this last week. She raced with Mica and they had a 7th and 8th place finish in their two races. They were both a bit disappointed as they had been hoping for a top 6. They have moved onto St Moritz this week. At the moment it is looking like they are just going to miss out on an Olympic place.
