The day after finishing the Pennine Way

The weather on the day after we had finished the Pennine Way was no better. We were holed up in our B&B, looking out of the window at the rain. Tricia had thought of going up a few hills…. I have to say there was no chance of me doing this, my feet needed rest…. But the weather prevented Tricia going out, she didn’t fancy another soaking. In fact, around mid-morning Tricia went and lay on the bed and slept for an hour! A restful day was very welcome. I felt no urge to go hill walking at all.

In late afternoon, with the weather easing slightly, we walked back over to Edale, and sought some refuge in a tea room. Pat & Clive turned up, and we enjoyed a catch up with them. With the weather being rotten, and to save Nikki a trip up to pick us up on the Sunday, we agreed to go back with Pat & Clive that evening. So, it was back to the B&B, and we picked up our cases and put them in the back of Clive’s car. Then it was back to Edale. We got a table in the Nag’s Head, and waited for Deb & Carlos to arrive, then we all had food, drink and fun. Here we have Pat over acting as usual :-).

Later in the evening we said goodbye to Deb and Carlos, then climbed in Clive’s car, and left for North Marston. We had a slight detour, in the dark Clive couldn’t quite work the route back, and so google maps came to the rescue. We arrived home in the early hours of Sunday…. Dumped the cases and went to bed.

And so we were home. I was footsore, in particular my right big toe… which was in a mess. I will spare you the picture.  I was pleased to have done it, and ‘ticked the box’… but I can’t say that I would do it again. Too many day’s walking for me. Tricia. Well that’s a different story, she would have happily walked all the way back to Kirt Yetholm 🙂
