Lent

Lent is that period before Easter, 6 and a half weeks, when a number of christians will attempt to abstein from something. I normally enter into this, being up for a bit of a challenge. I have done many different things over the years, giving up alcohol, or chocolate, or tea, and even meat one year.

This year I am going to give up alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee, and any form of pudding or sweet or cake or chocolate. With one exception. My birthday falls in the middle of lent, and I don’t intend to penalise myself on that day. But apart from that it is going to be a long six plus weeks.

This evening I will enjoy a couple of drinks. Roll on Easter.

  1. Lori always takes her birthday off too.  I was going to send encouragement to you in such a heroic endeavour but after a bit of thought I’m sending it to your family instead.  It’s going to be rough down there for a while when the caffeine withdrawal symptoms set in

  2. All the best with Lent… I’m not Catholic, so I’ve never done this, but I work with someone who gives up sweets every year, and I’m always so impressed with her willpower!!

  3. Hi Paul
Well I’ve decided to give up loving Lisa for Lent…….it’s quite easy really due to me being over 2,600 miles apart so I can’t even be tempted, and I get home on the 3rd of April, I think that enough to sacrifice for anyone.
Love to you and Trish and the kids
