Looking back at the start of the year I had set out to shift some weight. I lost some but then stalled. The alcohol abstinence during lent meant I didn’t really put any back on, but even so I felt I had stalled and so wanted to push on and shift some more. Trish and I are going away in June with some others on a ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ weekend, which will mean the dinner suit coming out and I don’t want it to be too tight.
So, I have attacked my body with vigour. I have had four hard sessions in the gym this week. I have been miserly with the calories. And I even cut out coffee and tea.
No caffeine. But my goodness, I have been having headaches, and my legs aches so much – and all this is apparantly part of the caffeine withdrawl. One of life’s peversities, eat and drink healthy, get pain.
The fruit teas have been nice though.
I don’t smoke, I don’t drink… but Diet Coke? Can’t. Get. Enough. And while I can sometimes be satisfied with the caffeine-free version, there’s something about the “real thing.” I notice that if haven’t had one by mid-afternoon I start getting a very bad headache, too. It’s a bad thing, and something I’ve been trying to break myself of. It’s so hard, though…
Sounds like you are doing well, though… good for you!
There is nothing quite like a chilled diet coke on a summers day. But, diet coke has aspartame in it, and aspartame is a scary substance, this link gives an idea of some of the side effects http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-side-effects.html whilst it may seem the site blames everything on aspartame, if you search the web you have to start thinking there is no smoke without fire. There are others who disagree http://jonsullivan.com/DietCoke.php but we have reigned back on anything that contains aspartame. I still have a diet coke occasionally but not every day like I used to.
Yes I must admit I lost half a stone very quickly and now seem to have stuck. I’m seriously looking at portion sizes now. Last night I thought I’d be starving after my very measley looking 3 tablespoons of pasta but by the time I’d added home made, low calorie vegetable sauce and a lot of salad it was adequate.
Aspatame is banned in this house too along with the dreaded trans fats.
PS did you get the email I sent you last week re the book idea?
