2nd Sunday of Advent

It was a long trip back from Hull on Friday. I had a cracking good time at the company xmas party, there were about 1500 people at it, with all sorts of entertainment going on. I was a little bit delicate on Friday morning. The afternoon train back to London was punctuated by business calls, so I missed the opportunity of catching upon some sleep.

Tricia was busy yesterday at two Xmas fayres, and did a good trade in chutneys, cakes, and mince pies. I started sorting out the what was Ellies bedroom on Saturday, and worked on it today with Tricia, trying to turn the room into something habitable for Nikki when she returns on Friday.

I was treated to Blackburn Rovers 0 West Ham 1 this afternoon. . Mind you in the background Robbie was having band practice with his mates. They have a gig on Friday evening. Which reminds me, I have a chaotic evening on Friday. Pick up Nikki from uni, bring her back, go to rehearsal, and then go and pick Robbie up.

I shall be watching Cranford later. I think it has been done very well, considering the book is not in a specific chronological order, more like a collection of events. The tv series has however deviated from what chronology there is, but I don’t think it has spoiled it. Well, not for me anyhow.

Tricia and I were channel hopping last night, and ended up watching a programme on Morecambe and Wise, which showed a lot of their old shows. Absolute genius. People rave about bilge like Little Britain, which seems to base most of its humour in vulgarity and cheap laughs. M&W were just genuinely clever verbally and visually.

Ghosts of Christmas past, part 1.

Family Pictures 020

This is from a Christmas day in the mid 70’s. My two brothers in the background, my Mum and Dad and Nan in the front. Taken in the days when the whole Christmas experience was different.

  1. Awww what a fantastic photo and great to see Nan enjoying herself.  Makes me realise how much we missed by always living so far away from the family.
I’m enjoying Cranford too although I have to agree with Terry Wogan, why has no one noticed that everyone started dropping like flies the moment that new doctor arrived?  Something very dodgy there if you ask me
