4 weeks to a cup of tea….

I am doing well with my Lent promise, sticking to it religiously (no pun intended), but I do miss a cup of tea. Tricia, Nikki and I went to the Bicester Hockey Club 75th anniversary dinner last night. Tricia and I both played for the club for around 14 years, and Tricia was Chairperson of the club for a few years, and Treasurer for about 8 years. Nikki plays for the club now. It was good to see some old faces and catch up. Of course I couldn’t drink alcohol at the dinner, and had to miss the pudding course and the coffee. All of this is no problem, but getting up in the morning and not having a cup of tea seems difficult. Never mind, only four weeks to go.

At the club dinner, they had some boards up with photo’s and local press reports on the games. I found a report from a game I played in from 1990… we had won, and I was mentioned in the report for my work in midfield. Obviously I was still able to play in midfield at the time, being only 29. Some years later I slipped back to playing defence, where it wasn’t such hard work.

I went and saw Nikki play on Saturday. Bicester Ladies beat Abingdon 6-0, and Nikki scored twice. She was pretty pleased. I picked her up on Friday evening from Uni, so that she could see ‘allo ‘allo. I had some support in on Friday evening, thank you to those who came, fortunately the performance went well. I didn’t miss a line on any of the performances, and have to say I am very pleased with how it all went. My head is still somewhat swollen from all of the praise I received for my performance. I mustn’t let it all go to my head though as we have another performance to do on Saturday night in an adjacent village. The problem we now have is how do we follow on from ‘allo ‘allo. Well I guess that can wait for another day.

Here I am just off to ‘Swatzerland’, trying to explain to Yvette why I am running off.

Well, I better get myself ready for work tomorrow, and then get some beauty sleep.

  1. I’ve noticed that allo allo is being performed in Arbroath this weekend.  I wonder if it’s the same play. Unfortunately I can’t go to see it as I’ve promised to be elsewhere.
