Friday evening was the first ‘free’ Friday evening for some months. It was normally rehearsal night for ‘allo ‘allo. So, we planned to have a curry evening with some friends. On the way home from work, the hiccups started… now I have something of a track record with these things, that can last days. I was even once sent to casualty by my gp during a bout that lasted over a week. Well, I hiccuped all the way through the evening… they eventually stopped at 3:30am. Tricia had given up at this point, and had gone to sleep in the spare room. I had dropped off myself when I could hear some scratching… some five minutes later I found that one of the cats (Ninja.. he is the Xmas tree climber, and prone to being a mischief) was in my wardrobe. He must have climbed in there some time during the evening, and when I went to bed I shut the wardrobe door. He was very pleased to see me when I let him out. I can’t say the feeling was reciprocated.
Saturday morning I drove across to Bracknell, my old hometown, to see my dear old Mum, with a card and flowers. It was good to catch up with her and my Dad. In the afternoon I was starting to flag a bit, but with the final performance of ‘allo ‘allo in the evening I couldn’t relax. We were doing ‘allo ‘allo in the neighbouring village – going on tour! The performance went really well, I didn’t miss a line, and I have to say I am pleased with myself for getting through all performance without being prompted once. There was a cast party afterwards… I celebrated with a glass of orange squash. Still on my Lent promise (only three weeks to go).
This morning, after the delivery of Mother’s day gifts, I helped take back the all the costumes and props. This afternoon Tricia and Ellie went on the ‘Lent walk’. These take place each Sunday of Lent around the local parishes. Today the walk passed through our village, and Tricia was helping provide cake and teas. Robbie helped out with the tea.
The walk itself resulted in Ellie literally getting stuck in the mud. She was helped out…. leaving her boots behind which had to be retrieved seperately. She thought this was hilarious.
Oh well, off to watch Lark Rise to Candleford.
I’m very glad that hicups didn’t persist into performance time.
Yes we have to love our pets don’t we?
Poor Ellie. I don’t suppose there was a photo so we can all enjoy the moment?
